This picture was taken outside of Brown Chapel AME church in Selma where the marchers convened on March 7, 1965 before attempting to walk over the Edmund Pettus bridge towards Montgomery. Our tour guide was a part of that march when she was 11 years old. She recalled the events. She had her opinion about a lot of things. One of the things that she didn't like about this particular monument is the words, "I HAD A DREAM" She believes (along with the rest of us) that it should say, "I HAVE A DREAM" because the dream is still alive today.
